So I suck at this.

Mason Christopher was born April 21 via c-section after 20 long hours of labour. He is now 3 1/2 months old and doing very well. Breastfeeding was very trying at first, but we powered through and are doing great with it now.

The new challenge in life is that Chris left this weekend for basic training for the military, and won't be back until November, maybe even later :(

So I think being a (temporary) single, SAHM, is a proper excuse if I don't happen to get on here often. But I should try, at least to keep track of Mason's milestones.

4 days until my due date. Getting slightly impatient lol.

Had my 39 week appt today (even thought I'm 39.5.) Blood pressure is fine, urine is fine, gained 1 pound since last week, my GBS came back negative, baby's heart rate was around 150. I had my first cervix check, he said he could feel the baby's head, but he still had to come down a bit, and I was quite thinned out/my cervix was pretty ripe, but I'm only 1-2 cm dilated, so he "stretched" out my cervix a bit, I'm not sure if he stripped my membranes or just tugged at it, but he said it might help move things along. Anyway, I had some spotting afterwards, which he told me would happen, and some cramping, and a lot more lower back pain, so hopefully it does something and I have a baby by the end of the weekend.

Thats about it for now, hopefully next time I post it will be as a mom!

Had another OB appt yesterday. Another boring one. No weight gain since last week, BP 120/60, urine was fine, baby's still head down, good strong heartbeat. If I still haven't had him by next Wed I'll get my first cervix check, but I'm not sure I'll last that long. He's been particularly active this last week, and yesterday my pelvis was extremely sore and sensitive, and today I've had a ton of CM. Chris wants me to hold on until after next week, cuz thats when his vacation starts, but we'll see.

Yesterday was really hard on me though. I was so hoping the baby would be here by yesterday, because it was a year since my m/c yesterday, so I dunno, I thought the baby being born on that day might make it not the worst day of my life every year. But no such luck, no baby yet.

Anyway, thats about it. We have all the essentials ready, my hospital bags are packed, I'm just waiting at this point.

Back as promised. Disappointingly uneventful OB appt. Apparently around these parts they don't start cervical checks until 39 weeks (of course I'm sure there are exceptions.) It does make sense I guess, since you can be dilated like 2 cm for weeks before labour, and most first time moms go late as opposed to early, so it would probably get their hopes up for nothing. So other than that, I don't think I gained any weight, my blood pressure was good, my hemoglobin was up, which was really good considering I've been terrible at taking the iron supplements my old doctor prescribed for me. I did my Group B Strep swab (which I had to do myself, weird) but when I did there was blood on the swab, but I haven't seen any on the TP when using the bathroom at all today, so who knows what thats about. I mentioned it to the OB but he didn't seem concerned at all. Oh and we got our pre-admitting form, I filled it all out and Chris is going to drop it in the mail tomorrow.

I am exhausted today though. I had my OB appt at a little after 10, and it was uptown, and then later that afternoon at 2 I had a dentist appt in the same medical building, so I decided to stay uptown all afternoon, and I am wiped. For starters, I haven't been up at 9 in like 3 weeks, so that was not helpful, second it was insanely windy today, someone needs to alert winter that it is time to throw in the towel. So that made the walk from the medical clinic up to the mall and back down a few hours later just that much less enjoyable, if I had known it was going to be that frigidly windy I would've brought my touque. And walking around the mall for a couple hours in crappy boots was just icing on the cake. I did buy almost everything I'll need for the baby's arrival, and the trip to the hospital though, I only need a couple more things now.

I think thats about it. It would've been nice to know if I'm dilated or effaced or any of that, but not knowing is probably better for me.

Again, terrible at updating! I'm so much more or a lurker, be it blogs, forums or Facebook, I guess I just never feel like I have anything terribly interesting to say.

Pregnancy is treating me well. I'm ready, not so much not to be pregnant anymore, cuz it's not bad or anything, but ready to meet the person who has invaded my body for the last 8 months. My EDD will be a month from Thursday, and I can't believe how close it is! We have almost everything we'll need for when he shows up, I really need to get my breast pump though. I ordered our bedding set, and it should be here by Friday! Exciting! We have our hospital breastfeeding class tomorrow, and my first OB appt is in a week. I was going to refuse the progress checks, but I think I'll just decline the alternating ones, so I'll get one at 36 and 38 weeks (hopefully I won't hit 40.) Chris is harassing me to come finish the laundry (I have zero attention span) so I'll be off. I promise to come here and record where I'm at progress wise after my first visit with the OB.
